Sexual pain can include pain with external or internal stimulation, pain with before, during or after orgasm, or pain with penetration. Often times, this pain is associated with the function of your pelvic floor muscles and is something that pelvic floor physical therapy can greatly help with!

Our Doctors of Physical Therapy will assess your pelvis and all possible contributing factors in a thorough evaluation to find the root cause of your symptoms. They will then create a treatment plan specific to you to lead you towards symptom relief.

A typical treatment for sexual pain and dysfunction could include

  • Manual therapy can include myofascial release and visceral releases direct to any contributing area to help reduce pain and tension and improve tissue length

  • You will be prescribed specific exercises to help improve mobility where you lack it and decrease your specific pain

  • Our goal is to improve your overall awareness of you pelvic floor and all parts of you body that contriute to it. We will help improve your strength deficits, motor coordination, timing and empower you to feel confident with your pelvic floor

  • Our therapists will educate you on their findings and help you fully understand not only what is going on with your body but also what you can do to help reduce your symptoms

  • If we have inappropriate pressure management strategies, meaning, we bear down, breath hold and maintain improper alignment especially when lifting then we could be overloading our pelvic floor resulting pain and tightness
